To turn on the CIU for the first time remove the paper battery strip located at the back of the CIU in the battery compartment. 

Pairing the CIU to the Meter

On the CIU press #92#.  

The CIU requests a PIN code.  Enter 6171 (default - unless you changed it) as the pin code, followed by the # key.

If the PIN is accepted, ‘OK’ is displayed.  

Now enter the full 11 digit Prepaid Number, followed by the # key. 

The CIU displays ‘STORED’ if saved successfully. 

Press the Backspace Key, if you entered the incorrect number, or you want to cancel setting the Prepaid Number. 

To test press the # key twice.  

The CIU attempts to communicate with the meter by displaying ‘BUSY 1’. 

If successful, the credit available on the meter is displayed.   

If not successful the first time, the CIU will attempt again, displaying ‘BUSY 2’ and ‘BUSY 3’. 

If communication to the meter failed you get the ‘Failed’ message.  

Ensure you are within range of the meter and you typed the prepaid number correctly.
